Kenneth Thomas Fraser MacLean

Ken passed away peacefully March 31st, 2024 at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital at the age of 92 years. Ken was born December 24th, 1931 in Toronto.

He had been living on his own for the last years in Huntsville at the mainland property directly across from the his beloved family cottage on Gallaugher’s Island.

Ken graduated from Guelph University and married Joan Gallaugher around that time. Three children appeared over the next few years....John, Don and Anne. We will miss you Dad! As does all the rest of the family.

Ken began his career with Imperial Oil becoming Western Marketing Manager for the Atlas Tire Division before moving on to become a Canadian Tire Dealer. He owned stores in Cochrane, Ottawa, Prince Albert and Red Deer over a 20 year period before retiring to Florida and then ultimately moving back to Huntsville.

Ken was an extremely generous person with family and others.....you all know who you are.

He wrote the following years ago and asked that it be shared at this time:

“Here’s to Ken, who roared thru life with reckless abandon but ever aware of his responsibilities and commitments that they be fulfilled. He was better at living and giving than one who could commit to long term relationships. He flirted with motorcycling, golf and boating but loved his cottage and numerous widespread friends. For the last hurrah, a gathering will be held at the Island cottage in Huntsville where glasses will be filled with his favourite malt or other liquids of good cheer. The abundance of food and refreshments will only be surpassed by all the old stories and tall tales, truthful or otherwise, in a celebration of the good times.”
