Eunice Fay (Fraser) Verrier
It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of Eunice Fay (Fraser) Verrier on January 28, 2026 at the age of 95 at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.
Eunice was predeceased by her husband Joseph Verrier (July 17, 2015) after 65 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughters Shawn Verrier (Greg), Angela Verrier (Rob), Jennifer Fernandes (Brian), also by her grandchildren Adam Gaboury, Rachel Gaboury, Matthew Riley, Nathan Riley (Emily), Sage Verrier- Siska (Darlene) and great grandchildren Beau Gaboury-Clement, Margo Riley and many nieces and nephews.
Eunice’s dream and passion of owning her own ladies wear/gift ware store became a reality when she opened “The Village Shop” in 1970. She ran her business very successfully for 44 years. She was highly respected with the store being a “presence” in the downtown core of Huntsville attracting tourists and local patrons alike.
While the commitment of running the store kept her busy she still found time for family. Halloween being a favorite time with the grandchildren she would always put on her Halloween sweater, masquerade mask and flashing pumpkin necklace. We were never quite sure who got the most enjoyment out of it Eunice or the grandchildren!
With the closing of the store December 2014 and then the passing of Joseph life looked very different for Eunice as life has a way of doing. She turned her attention to the simpler things in life, gardening, reading and establishing friendships.
While her strength could be fierce her love and support was unparalleled.
Life will never be the same without her and she will be dearly missed by family and friends.
At Eunice’s request there will be no visitation or funeral. A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date. Please revisit this website for details as they become available.
Memorial donations may be made to Huntsville Hospital Foundation.
