A funeral director’s role is to support and guide families through the loss of a loved one with care, compassion, and professionalism. We assist in arranging burial or cremation, as well as coordinating the services that best reflect your wishes and those of your family.
In addition to planning and coordinating services, funeral directors look after many important details, including (but not limited to):
Bringing your loved one into our care from the place of death
Providing professional care of the deceased, including embalming (if requested)
Meeting with families to make arrangements for disposition and funeral services
Completing and filing all necessary certificates, permits, and documentation
Coordinating arrangements with cemeteries and crematoriums
Directing the funeral service and procession
Our goal is to handle these responsibilities on your behalf, allowing you to focus on what matters most—honouring your loved one and supporting each other.

There are several options available when planning a funeral service, and each can be tailored to reflect your family’s wishes and the life of your loved one. Common types of services include:
Full service (traditional visitation and funeral)
Memorial service
Graveside service
Celebration of Life
Direct disposition (burial or cremation without a formal service)
Our role is to listen, guide, and help you choose the option that best suits your needs, preferences, and circumstances. Every service is personal, and we are here to support you in creating something meaningful and appropriate for your family.

The cost of a funeral can vary depending on the type of service and the choices a family makes. A full-service funeral includes a number of professional services, facilities, and items that are required to carry out the arrangements.
These may include:
Professional service fees (meeting with a funeral director and guidance throughout the process)
Initial transfer of your loved one into our care, as well as any additional transportation
Embalming and other preparation, if requested
Use of facilities and staff for visitation
Use of facilities and staff for the funeral service
Specialty vehicles, such as a funeral coach (hearse), clergy vehicle, and service car
Memorial items, including memorial cards, guest books, tribute videos, and live streaming
The selection of a casket and/or urn
Every family’s needs are different, and we work closely with you to provide options that respect both your wishes and your budget. Our goal is to be transparent and help you make informed decisions every step of the way.

Due to winter conditions, burials can not take place in Huntsville and the surrounding area during the colder months.
The Town of Huntsville has a secure storage facility where your loved one can be respectfully cared for until spring interment is possible. Families can still choose to have a service of their choice at the time—we are simply unable to proceed with the burial until the spring.
In our area, all spring interments must be completed in May.
We understand this may raise questions, and we are here to guide you through the process and help you plan accordingly during this time.
-
The government does not cover the cost of funeral expenses.
However, individuals who have contributed to the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) may be eligible for the CPP Death Benefit, which provides a one-time payment of up to $2,500.
We are happy to assist you with the application process and guide you through any questions you may have.
-
Due to current provincial legislation, a deceased person must be placed in a casket or appropriate container for both burial and cremation at this time, though this may evolve in the future to better reflect cultural and religious practices.
There are a wide range of options available, from simple cremation containers to more traditional caskets with higher-end materials and finishes.
We are here to guide you through all of your options and help you choose something that reflects your wishes and fits within your budget.
-
At this time, there are no fully designated green burial options available in our immediate area.
However, there are still several choices you can make to create a more environmentally conscious arrangement, including:
Choosing not to have embalming (when appropriate)
Selecting environmentally friendly caskets made without chemicals, metals, or finishes
Using biodegradable or non-permanent urns
Considering the scattering of cremated remains, where permitted
We are happy to discuss these options with you and help you make choices that align with your values, wishes, and preferences.

There is currently no crematorium facility located in Huntsville or the immediate Muskoka area.
It is a common misconception that all funeral homes offering cremation services have an on-site crematorium. In fact, cremation services are provided by licensed funeral homes (Class 1 and Class 2), who coordinate the cremation process on behalf of the family.
We take care of all arrangements, including transportation and coordination with a licensed crematorium, ensuring your loved one is handled with care and professionalism throughout the process.
