It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Valerie McLaughlin  at  home  In Huntsville on Saturday, July 17, 2021. Valerie was born on July 13, 1955 in Huntsville to Ivan & Shirley Green. She grew up in a family of 10 brothers and sisters. She attended Humber  and Georgian College. She is survived by her husband, Jim McLaughlin and Children Nigel (Kelly) and Cole Boothby, Christopher (Michelle), Sarah (Allison), and Kate (Ian) McLaughlin, and grandchildren. Val will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews.

Val was committed to excellence in every aspect of her life, personal and professional.  The last 10 years of her career were spent at HPS in kindergarten as the ECE with Kate McNaughton. They were, she felt, the most rewarding years of her career. Her patience & care for each and every child was always on display.  She made a significant difference in hundreds of young minds that will be felt for years to come.

Val loved to travel, all across Canada, Paris, Rome & Amsterdam along with a 6 month stay in India.

The family wishes to thank the Cancer Care Team at RVH, Dr Harold and the Huntsville Hope Palliative Care Team, as well as the home care specialists who came to our home.  A special thanks and appreciation for the legions of friends and acquaintances who were committed to prayer on her behalf, during her struggle.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Algonquin Grace Hospice in Huntsville would be encouraged in Val’s memory.

A Memorial Service will be held at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1 High Street, Huntsville on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 1 p.m.
