Alan Newell

Alan Newell of Huntsville, Ontario died on the morning of January 8th, 2023, at the age of 95.

He served as Crown Attorney in Muskoka for 30 years, was a member of the Huntsville Pistol and Revolver Club and enjoyed many hobbies including wood turning, photography, sailing, skiing, golf, squash and horses, often competing at Fall Fairs. He sure had fun driving his red convertible Volkswagen Beetle, it remains in the family today.

Al was preceded in death by his father William, his mother Alice, and his granddaughter Jenna-Marie Bowers.

He is survived by his loving wife Marlyn, his brothers David and Bob, his children Donna Marie Bowers (Bryan), Kenneth, Mary-Ruth (David), and MaryAnne Mitchell (Jamie), his grandchildren Bryson Bowers (Cameron), Trent Bowers (Kirsten), Elyse Leggett nee Bowers (Michael), Ethan Newell, Lucas Newell and Walker Mitchell, his great grandchildren Aziyha Leggett and Everett Bowers and his stepchildren Tracy McCulley, Troylea McCulley (Craig Price), Leta McCulley and Robert McCulley.

The family is grateful and would like to thank Doctor Biasutti, Doctor Morton, the nurses at Closing the Gap Healthcare, the Personal Support Workers at CarePartners and the nurses at Huntsville Hospital for the wonderful care they provided Al these last few years.

A public service will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday January 28th, 2023, at the St James Anglican Church in Gravenhurst located at 191 Hotchkiss Street. A reception downstairs will follow.

In lieu of flowers a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
