Lois Geil

It is with sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our dear Aunt Lois.  Lois Iona Mary (Wooddisse) Geil of Huntsville, Ontario passed away peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, Ontario on December 15, 2023 in her 84th year.  She was the wife of the late Ralph Edward Geil (2008) with whom she shared a loving and respectful fifty-one year marriage.

Lois was born in Maryborough Township, Wellington County on February 17, 1940.  She was the 5th child to the late William Richard Wooddisse and Mary Effa McNeil.  She met and married Ralph Edward Geil   in 1957 and moved to Toronto and later to Huntsville.  Lois was a homemaker, a seamstress, a gardener and a self taught designer, architect and all round handy person.  She was also interested in genealogy and spent hours building her family tree.  She was keen to know the full names and the year of birth of all her 1st cousins and nieces and nephews.  Remarkably she could recall this information from memory during our many “family history” discussions. She was a very soft spoken, warm and loving lady.

She is survived by her sister Gwen Stanners and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews.

Lois is predeceased by her sister Eileen (Russell) Faulkner, her brother Keith (Doris) Wooddisse, her brother -in-law Andy Stanners, her sister June (Jack Mitchell) (Hugh) MacDonald and her youngest sister Darlene (Ed) Silagy.  She is also predeceased by her sisters- in- law Doris (Frank) Zurbrigg, Mildred (George) Caldwell, Shirley (David) Howes and brother- in -law Emerson Geil.

She passed away due to complications from diabetes….

At her direction, there will be no public visitation or service.

Interment at Alsfeldt United Church Cemetery.
