Brian William Peddie

Brian Peddie, the most easy going guy you’ll ever know, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2023 in his 65th year. Brian was a man known for immense patience and genuine kindness. He loved a good Irish tune, a lot of wood splitting and a little drop of Irish whiskey, “the good stuff” as he called it. Since becoming a grandfather on his 54th birthday, sharing his June 21st special day with his eldest grandchild, he especially treasured all the moments he could get with his four grandkids and played with them as if he was a kid himself. He instilled the value of time and memories which they learned to appreciate more than anything money could buy.

Brian was raised in Huntsville by his parents Grace and Don Peddie (both deceased), growing up with four siblings he always reminisced of the fun they had and sports they were involved in. Their home was filled with generosity; always an open door for childhood neighbours and friends. Brian loved playing team sports; baseball, basketball, lacrosse, hockey and had a reputation of outstanding sportsmanship, the humble player who wouldn’t throw anyone against the boards.

Holding the highest measure of virtue right down to his soul, we were blessed to learn from a man of high regard and respect for others. His hard working nature has been admired by so many and passed down to his children and grandchildren. With the most patient, understanding and genuine demeanour, Brian was an incredible role model to those he raised, taught and trained. Brian took pride in his work in the grocery store industry and enjoyed his time with many coworkers and customers over the years.

Brian is missed immensely by his children, daughter Bryna Sprigings (Steve), son Brendon Peddie (Sarah) and his grandchildren, Lilah (10), Tully (9), Hannah (7) and Rhett (5). Brian is survived and deeply missed by all his siblings, Mike Peddie (Lynn), Grant Peddie (Gary), Janice Blakelock (Jeff) and Todd Peddie (Jean). Brian was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews, John (Meggie), Jennifer (Hans), Laura (Danny), Catherine (Eric), Brittany (Sean) and Bryson. He is also survived by his Uncle Bill Hopcraft (Mary) and cousins.

To celebrate Brian’s life, family and friends are invited to Canvas Brewing Co. for food and friendship on Saturday March 25th, 2023. Cash bar open 2-8pm, refreshments 2-4pm, food provided by Smokin’ Hot BBQ 4-6pm, open mic and tributes 6-8pm.

“Hold fire” on the flowers he’d say, we know Brian would hope that you would do an unexpected act of kindness for someone instead. For those who wish to make a gift in Brian’s honour, he expressed appreciation for the tremendous care and compassion from Hospice Huntsville and Hope Huntsville Palliative Care Team.
