William "Bill" Paterson
William McGregor Paterson, (Bill), 71, slipped away at home, unexpectedly, yet peacefully, to be with his Saviour, in the early hours of November 24th 2025.
Bill is predeceased by his parents William and Barbara (Boake) Paterson and is deeply cherished by his older brother, John Paterson (Jeannette Hanson) of Bella Lake, twin brother Robert Paterson of Fieldale Road, sister Carolyn Paterson (George Wright) of Britt. He is adored by his nephews Reid Paterson (Darlene Doskas) of South River and Sean Nimmons Paterson of Toronto and his niece Amanda Gawluk (Devon) of Midland, as well as three great nieces and a great nephew. Bill is loved by many cousins, their families, and by neighbours in Huntsville, Bella Lake, North Bay, and beyond. His many friends will miss him deeply.
‘Bill, Billy, Willy McGregor, Willy, Willy Meister’ was a gentle, humble, kind and courageous man who lived through the challenges of life with strength, wisdom and determination that inspired and encouraged everyone who knew him. He lived how Jesus leads us to, and we have great comfort in knowing he is with his Lord and Saviour reaping the rewards and having a celebration of a life well lived.
Bill had an extraordinary mind and could pull statistics and details from the past out of memory with amazing detail. A sports lover, he played hockey, football, and more. Later on, he was the ultimate sports fan and would cheer for the sports team he felt needed the most cheering! If you needed to know any score, standings, and player details, he knew, but his cheering went far beyond sports. He cheered for everyone around him. He was an encourager to all.
His life was an adventure and some of his stories from his earlier years he published in his book: “Journey of a Schizophrenic – A Witness of Faith”. In later years he settled in Huntsville to be closer to his family, and developed an incredible network of friends and activities, which he stayed busy pursuing until his last days.
