Myrna Jean Watts
Surrounded by family, the unexpected death of Myrna Jean Watts (nee Watson) occurred peacefully in the morning of June 20th, 2025, at the Huntsville Hospital.
Myrna is predeceased by her parents, Nora and Murray Watson, and will be greatly missed by her family, including her much loved husband of 66 years, Lanny, her children, Owen, Karen, and Diane (Tom) Fiorini, grandchildren, Keith (Amanda), Ashley, David (Susan) Fiorini, and Sarah (Jason)Taylor, and great-grandchildren. She was dearly loved by her brother, Garry, best friend, Sharon, lifetime pen pal, Theresa, Nancy, and many other friends and cottage friends.
Myrna was and will forever be remembered as the most sincerely caring person who was genuinely interested in people and whatever you had to say as she’d happily sit and attentively listen to us for hours. Her steady unwavering love for us taught us what is important in life and how to treat others as she filled our hearts with so many memories that will now help us to continue on in our journey without her.
Barely surviving when born, Myrna began life on December 13, 1938, in Beatrice, Ontario, and grew up in Huntsville. She attended Business College in Orillia and worked for the government until she started her family. Her main focus in life was family and friends and to make sure everyone knew they were important to her. She often shared stories about growing up and how much she adored her grandmother and aunts and uncles and time spent at the farms. She was like a mom to her younger brother, Garry, who often reflects upon how she cared for him growing up. Myrna was a loving and loyal wife and mother who was always there for us. She loved to quilt, knit, take pictures, and gather with us to celebrate life or play games, discuss recent events, and hear about everything we had to share. The island cottage was a constant in her life that was shared and enjoyed with all. She was a devoted daughter and was always there for her parents (especially as they aged) making many daily trips to Fairvern for years. Myrna was a very humble person who gracefully and easily chatted to everyone making connections and relationships that always became lifelong.
Myrna and Lanny built a life that continuously showed their love for one another. This was reflected through the ups and downs that life brings and the endurance of the many health issues they both faced. While respecting the wishes of Myrna, this love and support was never revealed more by the family they created than during the last few years (especially months) of keeping her at home. She was grateful and so thankful to us all and the many doctors, nurses, PSWs, OTs, paramedics, hospital staff, and all those who visited. God brought her many angels to help in her times of need, and we sincerely thank every one of you as we could not have done it without you and your kindness.
Myrna was firm in her faith and never afraid, but she said she would miss everyone. We greatly feel the loss of this dear dear woman, but if you were lucky enough to share in her life, you will forever remember her embraces, those smiling twinkling blue eyes, her waving at the window, and the gentle loving and kind nature that carried her through life as she saw value in every person, every conversation, and every moment.
At Myrna’s request, there will be no public viewing or formal funeral service. Please revisit this website for notice of a celebration of life arrangements in the near future.
