Vicki Liadis

Vicki Liadis died unexpectedly on September 15, 2025, at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.  She was 89 years young.  The family is deeply saddened and shocked by her sudden death.

Vicki was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Peter Liadis.  She is survived by her two daughters Mary (Joe), Amalia (Jim), and son Louis (Sharin); and seven grandchildren Lucas, Marcus, Sara, Rachel, Samantha, John and Sophia.  Her niece Amalia (Bobby) and nephew Jim (Senay) became an extension of her family and was known as Yiayia to George, Maria (Justin) and Lily.  She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

She was born in Xirokambi, Greece on March10, 1936 and grew up on the family farm.  She immigrated to Canada where she met and married her soul mate Peter and started their family, eventually settling in Muskoka, Ontario.

‍Vicki had many callings throughout her life.  As an entrepreneur, she enjoyed growing the family restaurant business immensely.  She treasured being with people and would welcome everyone with a smile, friendly conversation and made sure they had a wonderful experience.  Vicki was also a domestic maven and took pride cooking everyone’s favourites, including yemista, dolmades, galatobouriko, pita, and kouroulakia.   Her flower and vegetable garden gave her much joy and were evident of her envious green thumb.  Vicki was creative and loved to sew. She would make her own patterns and create beautiful clothes for herself and young children. ‍

Vicki spent her retirement years travelling to Greece over the summer for 20 years.  Together with Peter, they explored the countryside, bathed in the sea and sun, and became close with many of the locals.  They took pride in renovating the family house (kaliva) where they had many great memories.

Vicki had very strong family values and was well liked by everyone, mostly due to her filoxenia (welcoming and caring for friends and strangers).  She always made time to help others and would say “it all comes back to us”.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital staff for the care and support they provided to Vicki over the years.
