William "Bill" Ronald Fisher

Bill Fisher was born September 20, 1940, passed away peacefully at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital with his family by his side on Sunday February 19, 2023.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 61 years Merrilee. His son Michael and his children; Mikayla (Hudson) and Wyatt. His daughter Kathleen and Scott and their children; Chantel and John. His niece Bonnie (Chris), Brother Bob and brother-in-law Joe. Predeceased by his sister Mardi, brother Doug, sister-in-law Gail and nephew Kevin.

Bill was raised in Toronto and moved to Muskoka 12 years later with his 2 younger brothers and his sister. They lived in Port Sydney on a small hobby farm. As a teenager Bill helped his father with their family-owned bake shop, first in Port Sydney and then move it to Huntsville. After Bill finished school, he took a 6 month job in Bermuda. When he returned home, he was introduced to the love of his life Merrilee. He took a job at a new pipe company in Huntsville and worked there for 25 years. In that time, he built a home and a wonderful life with his wife Merrilee and his children Mike and Kathy. Bill spent all his free time with his family camping and catering to his kids sports and recreational activities.

Later in life Bill bought himself an antique car. A 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Sunliner Convertible. He loved taking the car to car shows with Merrilee and driving all his grandchildren which he adored to the McDonalds drive through for ice cream cones.

Bill loved talking too and helping people in anyway possible. Whether it be an ear to listen or some advice, he always had the time.

Bill loved all animals. He always had dogs and cats in the home to care for. He loved feeding birds in the winter, identifying different varieties with his binoculars and his bird books. Of course, this turned into other animals like turkeys, ducks, and deer showing up for their daily feeds. So for many years, Bill would be putting out the feed before the morning light, so no animals would go away hungry.

Bill’s life was all about family and friends, always putting others first.

He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.

Visitation for Bill will be held at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 High Street, Huntsville on Thursday, February 23 from 1-3 pm.

A funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 1 High Street, Huntsville on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 1 p.m.  Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice, would be appreciated by the family.
