Kathleen Gordon Macdonald

Kathleen Gordon Macdonald, 80, of Toronto, Ontario, died at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital on Sunday October 5, 2025.  Her death was due to complications from an infection, and the Team at the Hospital provided excellent care and compassion as she tried to overcome this setback.

Kathleen (Kathe for those who knew her) was born in Toronto in 1945 to Elwood and Audrey Brown.  After graduation from High School, Kathe attended Women’s College Hospital and became a Nurse.  After a period of time, Kathe decided to go back to school and attended York University, earning a Bachelors Degree, then a Masters in Business Administration and ultimately a Doctorate from the Schulich Business School, at which point she started teaching at Atkinson College.

Together with June Awrey, they started the School of Nursing at York University, and Kathe was for a period of time the Director of the program.

Kathe was preceded in death by her parents, Elwood and Audrey Brown, Caoilinn Carter (her first Granddaughter) and Siobhan Dolan (her Daughter).  She is survived by John Macdonald (Husband), Brendan Dolan (her Son) and his wife Leanne Dolan, Evan Carter and Fianna Carter (Grandchildren) and Stephen Brown (her Brother) and his wife Pat Brown and their family.

Kathe is to be interred in the Baysville Community Cemetery on Friday, October 10, 2025, attended by immediate family members so that she will be close to her cottage on Lake of Bays.  John and Kathe consider the cottage to be their sanctuary.  The Family will be arranging a Celebration of Life in the future, and you are encouraged to check back at this website for more information.

Donations to the Huntsville Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated in honour of Kathleen Macdonald and the caring, professional and compassionate service she received.
