Astrid Wahl

Astrid Hanna Wahl, our loving and radiant mom, entered into rest peacefully, surrounded by family at Algonquin Grace Hospice, Huntsville on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love for family, friends and strangers alike.

Astrid found joy in helping and caring for others whether it was volunteering at Fairvern or knitting sweaters and sewing dresses to send overseas.  Perhaps all of this testament to her nursing background and degree.

Her interests and passions were wide ranging, but Astrid’s true pride and joy was her family, who she was selflessly there for always.  Astrid is preceded in death by her late husband Harry Wahl and survived by her children Rene (Teresa) and Andre (Jennifer), her grandchildren Sydney, Charlie, Cambria and Jadeyn, her sister Christa Schoenknecht and many nieces and nephews. Astrid also leaves behind many wonderful friends, who she treasured and adored.

Our family would like to thank all of those who supported Astrid through the last months of change.  She was truly appreciative.  At this time, we would also like to thank all the staff and volunteers at Hospice.  We are grateful such a resource exists in our community, and a thank you to the nurses and doctors in the ER department at the Huntsville Hospital with special thank you to Dr. Deb Harold.

Visitation will be held at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 High Street, Huntsville on

Friday, September 26th from 4- 6p.m.

 A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 1 High Street, Huntsville on Saturday September 27th at 11 a.m.

with a reception to follow at St. Andrew’s. 

A private family interment will follow later.

Please honour Astrid by wearing her favourite colour blue or any other vibrant colour you have seen her wear!
