Marie Bice

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Margaret Marie Bice at Muskoka Landing on March 26th, 2026 at the age of 95.

Predeceased by her husband Douglas and her Grandson Shea.

Survived by her children, Harold Bice, Kerry Bice (Kym) and Pam Simioni (Gary).

Also survived by her much-loved Grandchildren, Currie Hough (Laura), Adam Nelson (Heatherlynn), Kyle Young (Claire), Camille Medland (Charles), Elijah Nelson, Cole Bice and Sarah Nelson as well as her Great Grandchildren, Charlie, Isaac, Jasper, Rosemary, River, Fisher, Shay, Hunter and Archer.

Marie, as she was known throughout her life, was born to Harold and Della Archer at their home on the shores of Boshkung Lake in Haliburton. Being raised by the water probably started her lifelong love of swimming.

She graduated as a RN  from Toronto Western Nursing School in 1954. In 1956 she married the love of her life Douglas, who she was married  to for 54 years until his passing in 2010. Growing up an only child she loved the large family she had married into, viewing Doug’s many sisters as her own.

Marie and Doug settled in Huntsville and always had a warm and welcoming home, a haven for family, friends and numerous dogs and cats.

Marie loved to garden. She was an excellent cook, baker and wonderful host to many family gatherings. She and Doug loved to travel and enjoyed many trips, meeting new friends along the way. She loved to be on the water whether she was swimming, on a boat ride or sitting by the lake. Her Anglican Church community meant a great deal to her, and she was active on the Alter Guild there for many years.

Throughout her life she had a way of making people feel special and loved. She was a consummate caregiver, able to give people a feeling that when you were around her you were in a safe space. She always wanted the best for all those she loved, and in the world in general.

Marie spent the last 3 years in Muskoka Traditions Retirement Home, and Muskoka Landing Nursing Home. We want to thank all the staff and caregivers who were so kind to her in her last years. That includes the staff at Huntsville Hospital who cared for her on numerous occasions.

Also, a big Thank you to Maggie West for her patient and dedicated care to Mom in her last years as well as Jody Campbell you also helped care for Mom when she entered Muskoka Landing.

Marie will truly be missed by all her relatives, family and friends from all corners of the world.
