Silvano “Vano” Mauro
It is with deep sorrow, and profound love that we announce the passing of Silvano (Vano) Mauro, who left us peacefully on May 12, 2026 at the age of 91, surrounded by his devoted family. Born on March 29, 1935 in Codroipo, Udine, Italy to Alesandro & Giovanna Mauro. Vano lived a life defined by warmth, integrity, and unyielding dedication to his family. His greatest joy in life was his family.
Vano lived a life marked by integrity, hard work, and dedication to those he loved. He spent many years building a fulfilling career as a business owner & hairdresser, where he was highly respected by his colleagues for his work ethic and dependable nature. More than any professional achievement, his true masterpiece was his family.
He shared a beautiful, 35-year marriage with his beloved wife, Dorothy, showing everyone what true partnership and enduring love look like. He was the anchor, the ultimate protector, and an amazing father to Beth, Raymond, Jeff, Jennifer (Greg), and Nancy. Grandfather & Papa to Brady (Heather), Kirstin, Brooke, Madison, Sierra and Kenneth, and Great Grandfather & Papa to Hazel, and Grace, he was a source of pure fun, endless patience, and steady affection.
Vano was always there with a helping hand, sound advice, and steady support. He taught his children the values of kindness and resilience, often through his own quiet example or while sharing his favourite pastimes, such as gardening. He would extend an opportunity to offer quiet words of wisdom. He taught his children the value of kindness, the importance of hard work, and how to find joy in the simple things.
A man of deep faith, he was a devoted parishioner of Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish and a proud, long-standing member of the Knights of Columbus, where he lived out the core values of charity, unity, and fraternity.
His booming smile and signature sayings, will echo in our hearts forever.
Vano was a pillar of strength, a guiding light, and a deeply loved husband, father, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will be carried forward by his family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sisters and will be missed by his nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate his remarkable life will be held on May 16, 2026 at 11:00 at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, 12 Centre Street North, Huntsville.
The family requests that donations be made in his honour to Hospice Huntsville.
